Hungarian National Museum

The aim of the Hungarian National Museum is to use scientific methods to collect, preserve and present the past of the former inhabitants of the Carpathian Basin, as well as memories related to the history of the Hungarian nation up to the present day.

Its main building is located in the eighth district on Múzeum Boulevard.

The museum was founded by Count Ferenc Széchenyi in 1802, and in 1807 it was declared national property.

The building housing the collection was designed by Mihály Pollack, an important figure in classicist architecture, and its construction took place over 10 years – between 1837 and 1847.

Madame Tussauds Budapest

The world-famous Madame Tussauds exhibition opened its doors in Budapest on May 25, 2023.

It welcomes visitors with a total of 51 wax figures, 17 of which represent Hungarian celebrities.

Among lifelike replicas of international celebrities, you can meet, for example, Ariane Grande, Beyonce, Leonardo Di Caprio, but also Katinka Hosszú or Ferenc Puskás.

Museum of Illusions Budapest

Can’t you believe your eyes? In 2021, the Museum of Illusions, a modern museum playing with tricks and optical illusions, opened in Budapest.

House of Terror

The House of Terror Museum is an exhibition created to commemorate the victims of 20th century dictatorships.

The building itself has symbolic significance, as it was the headquarters of the Arrow Cross until 1944, and then under the regime of the People’s Democracy it housed Hungary’s communist political police.

After the survival of the two terrorist regimes, the time came in 2002 to commemorate the victims.

In various exciting ways, the museum presents the conditions and how it was possible to live in those times when freedom was still only a dream.

Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest

The Museum of Fine Arts presents the memories of universal and Hungarian art from antiquity to the end of the 18th century, and also welcomes visitors with large-scale temporary exhibitions.

Its collections offer a glimpse into all eras of European fine art, through the works of famous artists such as Raffaello, Leonardo, Dürer, Rembrandt, Goya or Monet.

The number of his works of art is well over a hundred thousand.

In addition to the exhibitions, they make the museum atmosphere interesting and even more attractive with colorful programs, guided tours and activities.
